“After thirty years in the restaurant world, I’ve watched the role of the maître d’ go from the heartbeat of a dining room to a position slowly erased by technology and changing business habits. This documentary comes from seeing that shift up close. A great maître d’ once shaped the energy of a room, managed the flow of the night, and made people feel something and I believe that mattered more than most people realized. Today, the industry is moving fast, but in that speed we’ve lost an essential part of what makes restaurants work. ‘The Last Maître D’’ is my attempt to capture what that role meant, why it faded, and why I believe the craft deserves to come back.”
